Hello lovely people!

Today I wanted to share with you all something special that has been a huge game changer for my life and it is so so so simple! It’s all about gratitude!

I do a lot of searching for personal growth and development media, and one of my favorite things I've learned is a gratitude practice via one of my favorite motivational speakers/authors, Rachel Hollis. This is a part of her Start Today brand and journal entry routine that you can check out at this link:

The part about this practice that I want to reflect on is the first section, which begins with simply writing five things you are grateful for, first thing in the morning. This practice is easily one of the best things I’ve adopted over the past year, so I thought I’d share my experience with you all.

For a long time, I’ve been one of those people who always feels like they need to be better, want to be better, and MUST BE BETTER, which is for sure great in some ways. However, prior to adopting this practice, I never gave myself much of a chance to see what I’ve already accomplished or slow down to take time and realize what is already around me.

Expressing my gratitude through this daily exercise has been one of my keys to success. I’ve realized that my heart is more easily opened to my surroundings and I feel excited to start my day on a joyful note. The main thing that I love about this practice is that its point is not to reflect on big picture things like my health, my family, my education, which of course are all wonderful, but to focus on the little moments that spark inspiration, that make you smile, that make you laugh. Here are a few of mine from this morning...

By taking the time to acknowledge the little things each and every day those feelings of not being enough or always needing to be better are balanced out with a whole being of appreciation for my surroundings in the present moment.

In the midst of today’s society, it’s pretty easy to get caught in the worry and negativity that surrounds us. Let this post be a reminder from your fellow optimist that no matter what our situation entails, blessings are indeed all around us each and every second of the day. I think the best way we can show our appreciation for them is to take a moment to acknowledge their goodness and approach life with an "attitude of gratitude."

Love and light,

Noel Kathryn :)
