FIND YOUR YES!

Sometimes in order for us to get to the place we really want to be, we simply have to say “No.”

This reality recently smacked me in the face when I realized that my goals and my life were not lining up. It all started with a new job I had taken in order to earn some extra ca-ching to put towards my music goals.

It sounds great, right? A little extra somethin’-somethin’ for the piggy bank, actually MORE than just a “little extra”? Sound fabulous?

NO.

The soul reason for accepting that job was to make money. A pretty check every two weeks was my only motivation in taking it. I thought it would all work out the way I planned: make money and use it wherever it’s needed. It all sounded like cupcakes and unicorns, but unfortunately, the reality of it all was the exact opposite. I worked my first day and absolutely hated it. What bothered me the most is that I was wearing my name on a tag that represented something I truly wanted nothing to do with, something that has nothing to do with my passions. That job was nothing of what I envisioned my life to look like, but, Lord forgive me, I was tempted by the money. After that first day of work, I asked myself if I wanted to be miserable and unmotivated or be genuinely happy and ready to pursue the things that I really desire. I think the answer is pretty obvious!

So, after a nice little come to Jesus moment, I promised myself that I would begin saying no to the things that left me completely drained and unfulfilled. NO to wearing my name in a way that represents something that is not true to who I am. NO to someone running me over until the point of a break down. NO to low standards. NO to choosing money over happiness.

Even MORE importantly, I promised myself that I would begin saying YES to the things that fuel my energy, like those dreams that keep me up all night because I can’t stop thinking about making them my reality. YES to my own happiness. YES to feeling my inner light shining through. YES to living up to my high standards. YES to my name associated with the things that make me who I am, the things that I can be proud of.

Trust me, I 100% support the idea of having to do something you don’t want to do, and having the perseverance to suck it up and stick with it, and I realize that not everyone can just pick up and leave their jobs that maybe aren’t what they really want. But, the main principle still shines through: say no to whatever leads you astray so that you can say yes to the things that fuel your soul.

You are worth your biggest dreams and you are worth however long it takes you to get there. You are worth the satisfaction and liberation of leaving something behind that cannot help you reach your goals. You are worth the priority of happiness, and you deserve to have enough self-respect to chase a dream that you can be proud of.

Bottom line: you deserve more. You deserve to full-heartedly say YES to the things your soul desires and everything under the clouds that supports your growth and goals. If you’re stuck in a situation that you 100% do not want to be in, say NO. Instead, find what makes your heart explode with happiness! FIND YOUR YES!!!

I said NO to a thing that was taking away from my passions. And now, I can say YES to working on my music and my other goals, like starting this blog. ;)

When you find your YES, you can live the life you envisioned. You can say YES to live passionately.
